Ilex guayusa · Napo Province, Ecuador

A leaf people have brewed before dawn for four centuries.

We didn’t invent guayusa. We put it in a can and left it alone.

Why the lift feels different

Synthetic caffeine arrives all at once. Guayusa doesn’t. The leaf carries caffeine alongside theobromine — the slow, warming compound in cacao — and L-theanine, which takes the edge off the peak.

The result is a curve, not a spike: on in about fifteen minutes, level for three to four hours, and down without the drop. It’s the reason people in the Amazon drink it at four in the morning and the reason it works at eleven at night.

01

Caffeine

90mg per can, all of it from the leaf. About the same as a small pour-over.

02

Theobromine

Slower and gentler than caffeine. Widens the peak instead of sharpening it.

03

L-theanine

Naturally present in guayusa. Smooths the jitter and holds attention steady.

From leaf to can

Four steps, no shortcuts

Step one

Harvest

Leaves picked by smallholder families we buy from directly, at prices set before the season.

Step two

Dry

Shade-dried within a day of picking, which keeps the compounds and the flavor intact.

Step three

Steep

Brewed cold in California, never from extract or powder. One batch, one brew.

Step four
